چکیده
Poly(ethylene oxide)s (PEOs) are useful polymers with good water solubility, biological compatibility, and commercial availability. PEOs various end groups were threaded into pillar[5]arene rings in a mixture of methanol to afford pseudopolyrotaxanes. Corresponding polyrotaxanes also constructed by capping COOH-terminated pseudopolyrotaxanes bulky amines, which multiple hydrogen bonds involving the OH critically important prevent dethreading. The number ring components could be rationally controlled these materials, providing simple versatile method tune mechanical thermal properties. Specifically, polyrotaxane high-molecular-weight axle became elastic upon heating above melting point exhibited temperature-dependent shape memory property because topological confinement crosslinked bonds.

Entropy of Thermally Excited Black Rings
A string theory description of near extremal black rings is proposed. The entropy is computed and the thermodynamic properties are derived for a large family of black rings that have not yet been constructed in supergravity. It is also argued that the most general black ring in N = 8 supergravity has 21 parameters up to duality.

A fundamental understanding of the thermal effects on nanofluid behaviors is critical for developing and designing innovative thermally responsive nanodevices. Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and experiment, we investigate the temperature-dependent intrusion/adsorption of water molecules into hydrophobic nanopores (carbon nanotubes and nanoporous carbon) and the underlying mechanisms. ...

The phase behavior of poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAM) nanoparticles dispersed in water is investigated using a thermodynamic perturbation theory combined with light-scattering and spectrometer measurements. It is shown how the volume transition of PNIPAM particles affects the interaction potential and determines a novel phase diagram that has not been observed in conventional colloids. Beca...
